Hiring Our Heroes Fellow Spotlight: Peter Adames

At Linchpin Solutions, we are proud to support service members as they transition into impactful civilian careers. Through our partnership with Hiring Our Heroes, we have the honor of working with exceptional professionals like Peter Adames, whose leadership, technical expertise, and mission-focused mindset embody the values we champion as an organization. The following Q&A highlights Peter’s journey from military service to corporate success.

What branch of the military did you serve in, and what was your title?
I currently serve in the United States Army as a 13F Fire Support Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO). In this role, I function similarly to a Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) in the Air Force, responsible for coordinating and directing precision fire support on enemy targets. My duties include integrating and employing a wide range of assets—fixed-wing aircraft, rotary-wing platforms, artillery, mortars, and naval gunfire—to deliver timely and accurate fires in support of combat operations.

What inspired you to join the Hiring Our Heroes program?
I first learned about Hiring Our Heroes through recommendations from previous program fellows. Motivated by their positive experiences, I researched the organization to ensure its mission aligned with my professional goals. I wanted to confirm that Hiring Our Heroes could effectively translate my military experience into valuable assets for the civilian workforce and enhance my overall career transition.

How did your military experience help prepare you for your current role at Linchpin?
I am currently completing my internship at Linchpin as a recruiter, building upon my earlier service as an Army recruiter in Statesboro, Georgia. That role taught me how to communicate value, read between the lines, conduct meaningful interviews, and support mission-driven objectives. Combined with military training that prioritizes strategic execution and adaptability, I believe the Army equipped me with the discipline and leadership needed to excel in any professional environment.

What has been the most rewarding part of working at Linchpin Solutions?
The most rewarding aspect of my internship has been translating the skills I gained in the military into a corporate setting. Although Army recruiting and corporate or technical recruiting differ, both share a critical goal: finding the most qualified candidates for high-impact roles. Each search feels like a strategic pursuit to uncover top talent—challenging, purposeful, and highly fulfilling.

What advice would you give to other service members transitioning into civilian careers?
My foremost advice is to invest in your education and professional development well before transitioning. Strengthening your qualifications early significantly improves your marketability. Just as importantly, believe in yourself and take a chance on your potential. The military equips you with valuable skills, discipline, and a mission-oriented mindset—embrace new opportunities with confidence, stay humble, and remain open to learning.

How does Linchpin’s mission connect with your background and values?
I approach everything with purpose, clarity, and accountability. Dependability and discretion guide how I work and collaborate, while ongoing professional development keeps me sharp in a rapidly evolving field. My drive to continuously improve aligns closely with Linchpin’s mission, culture, and commitment to excellence.

What does National Veterans and Military Family Month mean to you?
To me, National Veterans and Military Family Month is a meaningful reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of those who serve and those who support them. It’s a time to reflect, honor their commitment, and recognize the strength of military families. Their example pushes me to lead with integrity, stay disciplined, and strive to be better for my community and for those who have given so much.
